Republic Airways today announced the retirement of its long-serving Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Bedford, after more than 25 years leading the airline. In connection with his departure, the Republic Board of Directors has named Board Chair, David Grizzle, as Chief Executive Officer, and promoted Matt Koscal to President of Republic Airways, effective immediately.

Republic Airways will soon add another ab initio training program to the company’s workforce development initiatives—aircraft dispatcher. Aircraft dispatchers work in the System Operations Control (SOC) center at the Company’s headquarters building, orchestrating the hundreds of daily flights across the US, Canada and Caribbean in communication with the pilots on board the aircraft.

In September of 2018, Leadership In Flight Training (LIFT) Academy opened its hangar doors at Indianapolis International Airport to train individuals from zero flight experience (ab initio) through all the certifications necessary for the airlines. Just two and a half years later, its first group of students are ready to make the move they’ve dreamt about for so long—taking off as a commercial airline pilot with Republic Airways.
