Maxim Healthcare Honors Veterans and Deepens Commitment to the Military Community with Employment Opportunities and Fellowship Program

This Veterans Day, Maxim Healthcare (Maxim) is proud to honor the courageous men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. At Maxim, honoring veterans means more than just saying thank you; it requires action, providing opportunity, and an ongoing commitment to serve the military community that has selflessly served our country.

“Veterans and their families embody the very best of our nation through their strength, resilience and commitment to service,” noted Jarrod DePriest, CEO of Maxim Healthcare. “Maxim is proud to stand alongside those who have stood for our country, helping them transition into meaningful civilian careers and supporting military spouses in building sustainable, professional pathways.”

Providing Skilled Nursing Care for Those Who Have Served Us

Maxim offers a variety of options for in-home health care and caregiver support. As a nationally contracted provider with the Department of Veterans Affairs (“VA”) Community Care Network (CCN), Maxim provides care services to Veterans with service-connected illnesses and disabilities who are eligible to receive care funded by their local VA Medical Center. In 2024, Maxim proudly provided just shy of one million hours of in-home care to VA-funded Veterans nationally.

Recently, a military spouse based in North Carolina testified before Congress in support of in-home healthcare services for Veterans, citing the overwhelming benefit that home care can have for Veterans with disabilities. Mary Ward was skeptical that her husband, Tom, would qualify for all the skilled nursing care he needed due to ongoing battles with getting his care covered throughout the years. As Tom’s ALS diagnosis continued to progress over the years, Mary reached the point where she was simply not able to be his only caregiver. Thankfully Mary, also a fellow with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, a two year-long leadership training program for caregivers of military service members and veterans, was successful in advocating for her husband and got the local VA to approve private duty nursing care for Tom.

“Maxim Healthcare has served as Tom’s private duty nursing care team since day one,” said Ward. “For the first time in a very long time, I was able to be me again and not solely a caregiver. The benefit for me is clear, and the care I provide Tom because of respite is exponentially better. Thanks to the comprehensive care Maxim provides, and likewise the benefit for me to have support with his care is beyond anything I could ever have imagined. We are beyond grateful for the compassionate care and all the support we have received.”

“As a healthcare provider deeply invested in our communities’ well-being, we believe in honoring Veterans not just one day a year, but every day,” said DePriest. “Maxim puts this commitment into action by offering comprehensive in-home healthcare, tangible support, career opportunities, and a pathway to purpose after service.”

A Continued Commitment Connecting Veterans and Spouses to Purpose-Driven Careers

Maxim proudly works with Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) and the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) to provide military families with access to quality career opportunities, professional development and mentorship. As part of this nationwide initiative, Maxim connects transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses to meaningful employment opportunities across the healthcare industry. This year alone, Maxim actively participated in nearly 50 hiring events in partnership with HOH offering career coaching, resume development and networking tools for seamless military-to-civilian transitions.

Additionally, since 2018, Maxim and MSEP have worked on a Department of Defense initiative supporting military spouse employment through MSEP’s network of more than 850 vetted employer partners. Maxim is proud to be a part of the broader Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, through which MSEP has helped over 134,000 military spouses find employment. Support for these individuals in their careers continues even with frequent military relocations.

Military Spouse Career Accelerator Fellowship: Real Experience, Real Results

As part of a 12-week fellowship program through the Military Spouse Career Accelerator Pilot, Maxim is also currently hosting a fellow in its Tacoma, Washington, office. This program, funded by the Department of Defense, will continue to be an offering at Maxim in 2026. The program provides professional training, personalized career coaching, and full-time work experience designed to lead to long-term employment.

The fellowship pilot is currently focused on administrative roles, but pending success, Maxim plans to expand this program to more offices and additional positions, especially in locations near military installations. As fellow Morgan Perkey said, “This fellowship with Maxim is incredibly meaningful to me. I am halfway through the program, and I cannot wait to use the skills and knowledge I have gained from this experience throughout my career.”
